If you're a fan of pizza, and especially a devotee of all things cheese, you're in for a tantalizing treat. Enter the world of Quattro Formaggi Pizza, a slice of cheesy heaven that's bound to tantalize your taste buds and send your senses on a thrilling adventure. Say goodbye to boring pizza and prepare to embark on a journey into the realm of gourmet delight.

What's the secret behind this pizza's allure, you might ask? Well, it's all about the four cheese blend. Quattro Formaggi, which translates to 'Four Cheeses' in Italian, lives up to its name by featuring not one, not two, but four exquisite and distinct cheeses. This pizza is a celebration of the cheesiest indulgence you can imagine.

Our pizza begins with a velvety layer of fresh, milky mozzarella cheese. This classic cheese offers a gooey, stringy texture that's perfect for pizza. It's mild, smooth, and serves as the ideal base for our cheesy masterpiece.

Introducing the blue cheese twist! Gorgonzola brings a delightful tang and a hint of earthy flavor to the party. Its creamy crumbles balance out the other cheeses, creating a medley of tastes that dance on your palate.

Parmesan cheese, the king of Italian cheeses, graces our Quattro Formaggi Pizza with its sharp, nutty notes. This aged cheese adds depth and a savory kick, elevating the entire flavor profile.

The fourth cheese can be of your own choosing, I went with Emmental cheese.

What makes Quattro Formaggi Pizza so special is its personality. It's not your run-of-the-mill pizza; it's a gourmet adventure. The combination of these four cheeses creates a dynamic and exciting flavor profile. Each bite is an exploration of contrasts and harmonies. You'll taste the creamy against the tangy, the sharp against the buttery, and the gooey against the crispness of the crust.

Speaking of crust, a great pizza is not just about the toppings. The crust plays a crucial role in the overall experience. At Quattro Formaggi Pizza, we understand this perfectly. Our crust is a labor of love, baked to perfection. It's not too thin or too thick; it's just right. It's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, providing the ideal canvas for our exquisite cheese blend.

Quattro Formaggi Pizza is so much more than a classic Margherita or a pepperoni. It's a versatile delight that can be enjoyed in various ways. It's a party favorite, perfect for sharing with friends and family. It's a fantastic choice for a cozy night in with a glass of wine. It's also a fantastic option for those days when you want a gourmet meal without the fuss.

In every bite of Quattro Formaggi Pizza, you'll find layers of cheese bliss that are bound to make your heart melt. This pizza is more than a meal; it's an experience. It's an expression of passion for cheese, a testament to the art of pizza-making, and an invitation to explore the delightful world of Italian cuisine.

Ingredients

  • all purpose flour - 600g
  • yeast - 1 packet (7.2g)
  • water - 14 fl oz (414g)
  • extra virgin olive oil - 4 tbsp (54g)
  • mozzarella - 311g
  • parmesan - 0.5 cup (50g)
  • gorgonzola - 141g
  • emmentaler - 1 cup, diced (132g)
  • champignon - 2 cup pieces (312g)
  • black olives - 0.5 cup (67.5g)
  • canned tomatoes - 2 can (380g)
  • ham - 4 thick slice (252g)
  • basil - 2 tbsp, chopped (5.3g)
  • sea salt - 2 tsp (12g)
  • black pepper - 0.5 tsp, ground (1.2g)
  • sugar - 1 tsp (4.2g)

Cooking steps

1.) In a glass of lukewarm water, we'll add some magic to awaken the dormant yeast. Sprinkle in some dry yeast and half a teaspoon of sugar, and let them mingle for ten minutes. The yeast will come alive with a touch of sweetness.

2.) Over the sifted flour, we introduce a touch of Mediterranean flair. Two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, a teaspoon of salt, and the awakening yeast from the dissolved sugar-spiked water. As for the remaining water, it joins the party too.

3.) We knead the dough with love and care until it transforms into a smooth, velvety mixture. It's a delightful journey towards a harmonious, elastic consistency.

4.) We grant the dough some precious time to rest, allowing it to rise and expand, like a dream coming to life. Give it a cozy 45 minutes or until it doubles in size – a true transformation awaits.

5.) After the dough has had its rejuvenating rest, we gently spread it out on a floured surface. A little more tender loving care awaits as we knead it slightly, ensuring those tiny air bubbles are lovingly expelled.

6.) For the tomato sauce, we embarked on a flavorful adventure. We took a couple of cans of tomatoes and blended them with a teaspoon of salt, half a teaspoon of sugar, a dash of pepper, and four generous teaspoons of dried basil. It's a symphony of seasonings that will transform your pizza.

7.) In a round or square baking tray, we generously anoint the surface with a drizzle of olive oil, ensuring it's bathed in golden richness. Then, we gently place the dough on this canvas and roll it out into a thin, inviting layer. For a round pizza tray, we used about 400 grams of dough, the perfect foundation for pizza perfection.

8.) On the pizza canvas, we paint a masterpiece with two or three spoonfuls of the tomato sauce we prepared earlier. We adorn it with three or four slices of ham, a layer of thinly sliced mushrooms, the four cheeses, some black olives, and a gentle snowfall of grated Parmesan. It's a pizza symphony of flavors and textures.

9.) In the preheated oven at a blazing 480 degrees Fahrenheit, we lovingly place our pizza creation, ready to embark on a culinary adventure. It bakes for roughly 20-25 minutes, or until the dough becomes a delectable shade of golden brown. The tantalizing aroma will keep you counting down the moments until it's ready!

10.) We serve this exquisite pizza alongside the tomato sauce prepared earlier. Bon appétit! Enjoy every delicious bite of your culinary masterpiece!
